Welcome to another addition of 10
Bookish Confessions. Today I want to welcome Karen Y. Bynum, who is no stranger
to the blog, but to be honest... Some of her confessions are, like #7. It's
weird. And not necessarily in a good way... Anyways, please welcome Karen, who
quite possible has admitted to things that she probably shouldn't have! :)
1 – I love Twilight. My fave was Breaking Dawn and then Twilight. This series is what made me
finally decide to write my first novel.
2 – The first book I ever skimmed was Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King…this
year! O.o Sacrilege, right? Eep!
3 – Erm, so…confessions, right? :P I
write YA and NA, but I've read a LOT of 99cent and free erotica...so much that
it's best I not put it all on my Goodreads.
4 – I. Like. Fifty Shades. There, I’ve
said it. Please don’t take me to the Red Room of Pain…or maybe do ;) There are
things I don’t like about the trilogy, but the things I do like have totally
hooked me. I’m almost finished with book three, and I’ve loved learning about
Christian! Book two is my fave.
5 – I’ve never read a western.
6 – When I'm reading a series that has
totally gotten under my skin, it's like I'm a slave to it...all I can do is
count the hours until I'm curled up in bed...back in their world again. And
forget writing when that happens...my mind can only focus on one master.
7 – I sniff library books.
8 – I go to Barnes and Noble to get a
Starbucks coffee, and then browse the books until I find the ones I want to buy
and purchase them right then and there...on my Kindle app. I’m a rebel!
9 – I was about ten the first time I
read about a character taking off their clothes to go skinny dipping, and I
immediately took the book to my dad and said "I don't think I'm supposed
to be reading this."
10 – My fave series that I remember
having read to me as a kid was Raggedy Ann and Andy by Johnny Gruelle and my
first fave series that I remember reading on my own in middle school was the
Mandie series by Lois Glady Leppard.
Witch Way To Turn…
Can you
give one guy your heart and another your soul?
The last
thing eighteen-year-old Breena Cross needs in her life is more complications.
It’s all she can do to balance studying, working, trying to keep her
foster-sister safe and drooling over the new guy at work. But things go from
complicated to crazy when a fit of rage ignites the dark magic inside her and
she finds herself fending off the supernatural underworld.
Myles,
Breena’s drool-worthy coworker and vampire convict, is carrying a load of
secrets--one of which is that he’s fang-over-lip in love with Breena and in
danger of violating the terms of his sentence.
Orin is
a soul-hungry assassin sent to kill Breena. However, he takes one look into her
eyes and sees his own lost humanity. For once thinking of someone other than
himself, he chooses not to end her life, even though it means risking his own.
Despite
a convict and an assassin fighting over her, all Breena wants is custody of her
sister. But to do this, she will need help from both Myles and Orin. And if
Breena doesn’t learn to control the darkness within, she could lose her
sister…forever.
