Today is Day 8 of the 15 Days of Christmas Giveaways and I want to welcome, whom I’ve dubbed, the Jane of all Trades, Ms. Danielle Fine!

She’s a writer, an editor, a cover artist, and even makes those nifty book trailers. I tell you, she’s got her hand in the huge cookie-jar that is the world of Literary Awesomness! I’m so thankful to welcome her to the blog and she was kind enough to partake in a mini-interview.

But that’s not all, she’s GIVING something away!
First up is the prize, you’ll have Danielle Fine at your disposal as she creates for you:

Now, without further adieu…

Describe yourself in five words or less!
Writer, editor, designer, bookworm, mother.

With the holidays right around the corner, what is your favourite holiday tradition?
Making ornaments with my daughter and trimming the tree are my favorite things to do at Christmas time.

If you could re-create two covers from your favourite authors, for fun, what two books would you pick and why?
The covers I’d pick would be Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor and Weaveworld by Clive Barker because the imagery speaks so strongly to me and is so vivid and unique. It’s always a pleasure to work on books like that, in any capacity.

How did you get into cover design and editing?
I started out working for Lyrical Press and, after I’d resigned, one of my authors there approached me and asked if I would edit her book freelance. I did, and it snowballed from there by word of mouth until I woke up one morning and realized I was now a fulltime freelance editor. I actually started doing trailers before covers and kind of fell into that as well. After doing my first trailer, I decided to try my hand at covers and did a couple of mock ones for authors I knew…who ended up using them. :)

As an editor what is your most valuable strength? What is your biggest weakness?
I think my strength is being committed to my authors one hundred percent, which gives them the confidence to develop their style and their books to their full potential. My weakness is definitely time management. I can’t give up on anything until the author and I are both totally happy with it, so I tend to take longer with edits than my schedule allows.

If you could be an editor to any author in the world, who would you most want to work with and why?
Clive Barker. He’s been my hero for so long that working with him would be beyond a dream.

If you could only eat one holiday food for the rest of your life what would it be?
Roast potatoes

Describe for us some of the great services your provide to authors and how they can be useful
A couple of my authors have called me a one stop shop. *laughs* I offer editing, book covers, e-book formatting and book trailers. Editing is useful for any author looking to self-publish or wanting to polish their book before submitting to a publisher or agent. Covers are obviously vital to anyone self-publishing and my covers are all 100% custom and built to the author’s specifications. Self-publishing authors have to format their novels to make sure they display correctly on all e-readers, which can be tricky to get right and very time consuming. Lastly, book trailers are a great way to promote your book and attract readers.

Can you share with us three of your favourite cover designs?
