Book Review: Lost in Time by Melissa de la Cruz

I just finished Lost in Time by Melissa de la Cruz, this is the second last book in the Blue Blood Series. I must say, when it comes to Vampires, and novels, and romance this is one of those Series that has always had me hooked. Ms. de la Cruz has put some much time into plotting, planning, the characters, the setting, that over the course of the series, the novels , in my opinion have just kept getting better and better.

After their beautiful yet brief bonding ceremony in Italy, Schuyler Van Alen and Jack Force are forced to separate. To fulfill the Van Alen Legacy, Schuyler travels to Alexandria to search for Catherine of Siena and the Gate of Promise. But Schuyler quickly discovers that everything she believed about the Gate to be wrong. Meanwhile, Jack makes the difficult decision to return to New York to face his twin and former bondmate, Mimi. But instead of a bitter reunion, he is faced with a choice for which there is no good option.

Mimi, with a most unexpected travel companion in Oliver Hazard-Perry, jets off to Egypt, too, to search for Kingsley Martin, her long lost love. With all roads leading to Hell, Mimi learns that not all love stories have happy endings. But she'll have to put her own feelings aside if she's going to save her crumbling Coven.

Packed with heartache, twists, and vampiric folklore, Lost in Time is sure to satisfy hungry fans' cravings for more Blue Bloods adventure. – Quoted from

This is not a series that you can pick up in the middle, and only read one, which is a slight downfall. Each novel, though has its own central story and plot really does continue the overall storyline of the Blue Bloods. Each character develops and becomes more important and the main plot evolves from book to book.
The romance element in these novels is profound. There are several different characters with different romance types. Theirs the unrequited love and friendship Olive has for Schuyler, the tragic Romeo and Juliet love that Schuyler and Jack have. Mimi has the revengeful lost love for Jack. And so much more, every character in the series is waiting, wanting, hoping for something romantic, it just fuels the story lines even more.
Since I don’t want to give too much away, I’m keeping this review on the vague side. So much that happens in this novel really sets things up for the final showdown that is expected to happen in the next. But, we also learn about the past. I love how the relationship between Allegra Van Allen, Ben Chase and Charles Force is explored. It’s speckled throughout the novel, and has thus far been almost an untouched subject. Ms. Cruz is really doing an excellent job of beginning to tie off each plot string she’s started, and I think with the final novel coming all we be revealed, explained and be wonderful.
If you’ve hung on this far with the Blue Bloods, I’m sure you will agree, this is a series that’s hard to put down. The research that has gone into it, the intricate plot lines and characters have been a joy to get to know, the settings that Ms. Cruz has explored, taken us to throughout this journey have painted such a great picture, that I’d love to become a jetsetter and travel to all the places that have been mentioned in the novel.
I can’t wait for the final novel, I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds, and I will be sad to see such a wonderful saga disappear.
