Steamy Sunday: Knightfall by Berinn Rae

It’s Sunday! And that means I’m going to introduce you to something on the adult side of books. I love me a good Steamy adult novel, as I’m sure some of you do too!

So, without further adieu…  Let’s check out the lovely Berinn Rae’s Knightfall cover and blurb, and stick around a while because she’s been kind enough to answer a few questions!

A woman believed to be the harbinger of Armageddon.

The immortal knight assigned to kill her.

Alaskan bush pilot Kerra Cain lives a relatively normal life. That is, until a fallen angel reveals his plans to use Kerra to trigger the Apocalypse. To escape, she must place her trust in the arms of Gareth, a dangerously sexy, enigmatic man who has haunted her dreams for years.

Believing his mission unjust and in search of answers, Gareth whisks Kerra away to a protected island fortress where the Guardians of the Seven Seals train, all the while battling their growing attraction. When one of the Seals is kidnapped, Kerra must embrace a heritage long denied her if they are to rescue the Seal and save the world from Armageddon.

Okay, Welcome Berinn! And wow, what can I say, any cover with awesome abs get’s my voice! Now Can you tell us a bit about yourself? How about in five words or less.
Incurable romantic and nomadic aviatrix.

Now why don’t you tell us a bit about Knightfall? In five words or less, of course J
Knight / woman / evil angel triangle.

Say you want something spicy, right this second (it’s okay if you do) what would it be?
Salsa. I love me some good chips and salsa!

What are two of your favourite steamy reads and why?
Gena Showalter’s Lords of the Underworld series and Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark series are both on my auto-buy list. Both series are chock full of action, sexy alpha males, and strong women. All my favorite things!

If you had to start looking for the perfect man, what characteristics do you look for?
I look for the hero: a man with a strong spirit, confidence, but he’s willing to put aside his needs when the time comes. Oh, and course, a wicked sense of humor helps.

How did you name your characters? I’ve heard of a million little tips and tricks people use, so what’s yours?
I keep a small moleskin journal with me at all times. Whenever I hear a name I like (or get a story idea), I jot it down.

Where do you see yourself as an Author in five years?
I will have several more books released, with each story being even better than the one before. My dream is to become a recurring NY Times and/or USA Today bestselling author.

If you could pick one song that represents Knightfall, that would be featured on its “soundtrack” what would it be and why?
Who Wants to Live Forever by Queen. Gareth, the hero, has been around for quite some time, and has fallen into the rut of living out the words of this song. He could really use someone to help him change his perspective on life. <hint hint!>

Can you give us a teaser from Knightfall? You know something that will hook and send everyone out to go buy the book right this second.
Gareth tried to forget how perfectly the female’s skin had felt on him, how his desire for her had consumed him, and how, in the fleeting moments they touched, he nearly betrayed his mission for a kiss, to make her his. Gareth’s body still buzzed with energy from her touch, sending a razor-sharp hunger through him. Such cravings were dangerous. Especially to him. He was a Guardian, a protector of the Seven Seals. He couldn’t risk losing control over a woman. Over a f**king assignment.
His hand balled into a fist and he hit the dashboard. He needed to get his f**king head back into the game. She never should have seen him. He was supposed to shadow her, not talk to her. And holy-f**king-shit not touch her.
Cellach showing up at the airfield meant the Doms were already here in Alaska, gunning for her. He had a job to do. It was simple. Figure out what the Dominion wanted with Kerra Cain. Eliminate her if she posed a threat to the Seven.
Gareth grimaced.
He hoped things wouldn’t come down to that, but he wasn’t going to let a female—no matter how good in the sack she looked like she’d be—get in the way of him doing his job.
There was too much at stake.

What was your biggest struggle you faced with the production of Knightfall, and how did you overcome it?
Knightfall was my first book, so it took me three times longer to write because I was learning the process of writing and finding my voice at the same time. I can’t tell you how many times I rewrote the first chapter! Finally, I realized I had to send it out to houses. Letting go of it was one of the hardest things I’d ever done (but one of the best!).

Finally, do you have any words of wisdom for aspiring authors? Maybe a lesson that you’ve learned that you’d like to share.
Success is simple: imagine it (wild success) and then work harder than everyone else to achieve it.  J

Thanks so much for having me, Avery!

Look for Hellbound  (book 2 in the Guardians of the Seven Seals) coming Spring 2012!
Everyone has monsters under their bed. But what if you’re one of them?
